Pioneer Day weekend

Thursday was Pioneer Day. We were going to hit up the local neighborhood parade in the morning, but we all slept in and relaxed a bit. Chris had to work all day in exchange for the day after Thanksgiving off and he was supposed to go to out for his weekly guys night out, but he didn't go so that poor grumpy tired Bostyn could fall asleep and Noah and I could ready to go see fireworks with Aunt Arn and Uncle Matti. LIBERTY PARK HAS THE BEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN THE STATE OF UTAH, HANDS DOWN!!!! There wasn't a single second that went by without any fireworks, and less than 10 minutes into the fireworks, there was a mini-finale or something and it seriously seemed as though the fireworks were coming out at us and a lady next to us jumped. They were AMAZING and I wish Bostyn hadn't been so worn out, I really wanted her to see them. Chris had to work the next morning, bright and early, as usual, so he couldn't make it either. But have no fear, there are more fireworks August 9 near the Kearns pool. We will go to those but I know they won't be nearly as good as this show! Oh well, fireworks are great no matter what.

Friday was Bostyn's FIRST birthday! I tried to put a cute post on here on that day, but my computer froze and it was like 1 in the morning and I said screw it. So we want to wish a late Happy Birthday to Bostyn on here: We love you and you are so big! Poor Bostyn had a pretty crappy birthday. First thing in the morning she had her 1-year shots, 4 total. One in each arm and one in each leg. And the stupid girl that was doing the shots on the right side put the needle completely in Bostyn's arm, and for some reason, pulled it all the way back out, and put it back in Bostyn's arm and then gave her the shot. I was holding Bostyn down, so I know she didn't move. Who knows what that girl was doing. After we left the doctor's office we found a park with a splash pad and Noah got SOAKING wet and had to ride home in nothing but his dry t-shirt. Bostyn was exhausted from her morning from hell and took a good few hours long nap. When Chris got home he said we should go out to dinner to celebrate and Noah said we should go to IHOP. GREAT idea, because Bostyn loves pancakes! Unfortunately the food wasn't great and it took forever, even though we were literally the ONLY people in the restaurant! We made it up to her, however, by going to Macey's and buying her her first birthday cake and taking her home to let her go nuts and trash it! She wasn't really in the mood, I think she had a small fever from her shots, but she gave it a pretty good smashing and we got some really cute pictures! (see below) Bostyn literally passed out the second I put her in bed, hugging her panda bear we got her for her birthday.

Saturday night after dinner, Bostyn took her FIRST STEP! She managed to just get the one in before she fell, but she got right back up & took another one! I guess she figured that was enough because she would barely even stand up anymore. We'll keep our eyes out for her next one! After th excitement we met Margie, Wade, Trav, Amber and Matich at Yogurt Stop for an ice cream party for Bostyn, which I recommend doing even when its not someone's birthday.

Sunday we drove up to Ogden for Opa's 80th Birthday Bash at Aunt Nancy's sparkling new pool and had a BBQ. Bostyn got a bunch of really cute clothes and a pink toy bus for her birthday. Maybe she will stop stealing Noah's toys if she has her own! Thank you to Nancy and her family for giving us a great day to just have fun, relax and swim! Happy birthday Opa, we love you!

After Opa's bbq, it was back to Salt Lake for Rob's bbq. The second Noah walked into the backyard & saw the trampoline, his eyes glazed over & he started walking towards it like he was in a trance, he was so excited! But first, a quick hug to his best-grown-up-buddy Mike Kimble, then after swimming earlier for hours, my boy had enough energy to jump his heart out with Rob's daughter Kaylie. Bostyn got to jump a little bit too, but managed to fall & land on her face more (yes, I was holding her, that girl gets CrAzY!!) As we were buckling the kids into the car, the strong wind caught hold of one of the birthday balloons from Nancy's house & stole it from Noah. Poor Noah started bawling & the only thing that could console him up was a Capri Sun! If that's what is going to cheer him up from now on, I'll stock up on those to get me through the next year! And I'll buy him a new balloon.

Change of plans...

We have decided that we are going to have Bostyn's birthday party next Saturday, August 2. With it being a holiday weekend, we are having a hard time finding a park with an available pavilion, plus so many people have other plans already! So please plan on next Saturday to come celebrate Bostyn's birthday. Once those plans are finalized, I will put all the info on my blog, as well as send out invites. So stay tuned!!!

What to do...

Bostyn's birthday is this Friday and we will be celebrating this Saturday. Time's will be decided after we decide what we are going to do, but most likely it will be around 1 pm until whenever.

If we have a bbq at a park, it will be at a park with a playground for all the kids to play on and we will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, salad, etc.

If we have the party at Kearns Pool (pools for adults and children) we will probably just have pizza, depending on the party packages that they provide.

Please vote (to the right) for what sounds the most fun, and RSVP by commenting below. Please remember that the most important thing is getting everyone together that means a lot to us to celebrate our baby girl turning ONE!!! Thanks for your help and check back often for updated information!

My son dun learnd writin

My 3 year old son wrote his own name today! All by himself, out of the blue! He is so big! He starts preschool this fall and just because he'll be almost 4, the preschool director suggested that he be in the class for 4 & 5 year olds. I have NO doubt in my mind that he'll do just fine with the older kids. In fact, I bet he'll be knockin' them under the table! When I get the pic from Margie, I'll post it. Stay tuned!!!

Another July bday

I'd like to wish a very happy birthday to one of my favorite persons in the entire world! I love you and miss you Pat and hope to see you soon! Next time I'm in Rock Springs, we will celebrate. Hope it was a great day!

Happy Anniversary Chris

To my most wonderful husband in the entire world: Happy 4th Anniversary and I love you. You are the best thing that has happened to me, along with our beautiful babies. I feel like I would be lost without you and I don't know where I would be in my life if you weren't in it. You are such a sweet, unselfish, loving, fun husband and I love that you still make me laugh so hard after all these years. I feel like as we spend more time together and our family grows, our love grows stronger and I know that I have a partner that loves me for me for the rest of our lives. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father of my children. We've definitely had our ups and downs, but more ups and good memories and I look forward to having many more years of great memories shared with you. I love you!

Happy birthday to me!

Today was my 26th birthday (yikes!) just kidding, as of yet, I have no problem with how old I am or how old I am getting, my only problem is that I still don't have my Associates Degree (I am 1 f!@*ing class away and have been for almost 2 years now) and I haven't completed school altogether. But have no fear, I hope to complete my required Diversity credit and my last prerequisite credit this fall & next year I will be able to graduate SLCC and start the dental hygiene program, hopefully at UCDH in Orem. I will keep you posted on that.

Back on topic... I did have to work on my birthday, but it was by choice. Amber could've taken my day today so that I could have it off, but I don't mind working on my birthday. I don't like to celebrate bdays until the weekend anyway. Everyone at work told me happy birthday and when Amber came in to work this afternoon, she brought in 2 cakes that she spent all morning making & a funny card from her & Matich. Thank you to them for my gift! After lunch the girls all sang to me & I blew out all the candles on the 2 cakes EXCEPT ONE. Before the day was done, I checked my email & got an email from my Grandpa Bill and a funny ecard from Rosy:

After work I picked up the kids from Margie's as usual and my mom was there with my birthday card & some birthday $$ inside. Noah, Wade & Trav all told me happy birthday and I got a very lovely handmade card from Wade, also with some bday $$ inside. When I got home, I got my present from the kids: the new CD from Coldplay.

From Chris, I got a super cute new swimsuit from Urban Outfitters (my fave store ever) and a cute card telling me to eat cake all day (done!).

Then Chris & the kids took me out to dinner at Iggy's (my choice- I've been craving those bloody cheese fries for months. Months!) and then Scoopology where we all shared Cake Batter ice cream topped with raspberries. I know you're all jealous. I came home to a voicemail from Judith wishing me a Happy birthday.

All in all, it was a great birthday and I want to thank everyone for making it so special. I'm incredibly lucky to have so many great people in my life, I love you all!

On to Day 4

Everyone that knows me well knows that I drink 1 16 oz can of RockStar Energy Drink every day. The can will literally last me all day at work, satisfying my thirst for carbonation and my sweet tooth & give me that much needed boost every day. I no longer drink other carbonated drinks, which is good to me, considering that I was downing AT LEAST 3 Pepsi's a day. But its kind of gotten to that point where I HAD to have my freaking energy drink every day. Some days, if I was extra tired or knew I was going to stay up late, I'd crack open another. So Saturday, the 5th of July, was my last one. I'm not saying I will never drink them again, I know I will. But at least I will be giving myself a little break. A much needed one. I am going to try to go for 30 days. Then we will just see how I feel then (around that time is when school starts, so I can bet money I'll be drinking them again at that point!) Wish me luck and please forgive me if I am snappy for a while!

Bostyn update

As of today, Bostyn is officially off the sauce (formula) and has moved on to the harder stuff (whole milk). When Chris handed her the bottle with milk in it, she grabbed it & just started chugging it. Once she realized it was something new, she looked up at Chris, looked at her bottle, then looked back up at Chris and just beamed from ear to ear. Then she started drinking it again. We will see how her little stomach handles the drastic change...

She also finally has another tooth coming in. Margie says she can feel two, but I've only felt the one, coming in on the right side of her two existing ones. So she might be a little lopsided for a while.

So long Pontiac!

Thank you dear CarMax for buying our '98 Pontiac Grand Prix! We had it listed for around $2000 and we sold it for $1500. That's like 4.25 car payments on the Volvo! And of course, as I am writing this, I just remembered that "Low Book Sales will beat any valid offer to purchase your car by $250 or they will give you $250 guaranteed". Poo.

Anyways, I think Chris was a little sad to see it go, it was a good car and it definitely got us around well. Now he has to start riding his bike to work for real, like he was so excited to do when he bought his bike! Now he calls himself an old man and says that he doesn't have the energy to bike to work. You will, Chris, you will.

Happy Birthday Judith!

To my dear friend of nearly a decade: I hope you had an awesome birthday (even though you had to work) and ate tons of cake and ice cream and I know you will look super hot and sexy for your art show tomorrow! When you get to Salt Lake in about 2 weeks, we will go out and do something really fun! Love you!

Fireworks EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

I LOVE fireworks. Always have, always will. My favorite memories of fireworks are from when I'd spend my summers with my godparents, in Wyoming, where you can buy fireworks year-round and shoot them out of your backyard without restrictions. Since my birthday is so close to the 4th and my godmother's birthday just 2 days after mine, we'd get some of the most expensive, biggest fireworks we could legally buy from the fireworks stands and light them off. Rock Springs is basically the country, with the only lights around coming from neighbor's windows or the stars in the sky, so the fireworks shone extra bright and would make you see spots before your eyes long after the fireworks were gone. Those days are long gone but this year will be extra special because we have our little monkeys to share the fireworks with. Although he did really good at the Bees game when we sat on the field and watched fireworks, Noah is still a little scared of them (he hates any that make loud noises or a lot of flashing, so basically, he only likes sparklers). Bostyn, on the other hand, LOVES fireworks. Even though she was miserable tonight from her extremely bad diaper rash, pretty much the only thing that cheered her up was the little bit of fireworks we did tonight. I can't wait to take them to Sugarhouse Park or wherever they are doing fireworks this year! They will both love the huge display, not the smaller, more intimate show we can do right by our house!

This weekend's agenda:
Thursday. Early work day! Hopefully pool party at Davi's after work.
Friday. Chris actually has a day off! Zoo, anyone? PM: Sugarhouse Park.
Saturday. Another day off for Chris, holy crap! I think swimming sounds good again. Buy huge package of fireworks from CostCo. PM: Set off fireworks after Bbq at Margie's. Roast marshmallows.
Sunday. Sleep all day from exhaustion. Do more fireworks at Ron & Mo's in Syracuse.
