Family friend of roughly 16 years, Tinna was probably the tiniest person you ever met, but she had a heart that was 10 times bigger than anyone else's. Her smile could light up the world and her insanely contagious laugh could make your cheeks hurt and split your side in two. Unfortunately she will never be able to share these beautiful traits with her unborn grandchild but she will live on in the hearts of many.
Tinna was taken from all of her family and friends in a terrible car accident when she turned to miss a truck that had swerved to miss another car that suddenly started driving erratically. (Police are still searching for that car, as far as I know)
I am posting this not only as a small tribute to a good friend, but a reminder to everyone how important it is to drive carefully and be aware of those driving around you. And make sure you tell the people you love that you love them as often as you can, wherever & whenever. Take time out of busy schedules to create wonderful memories that just can't be let go of. And be thankful for all that you have in life & that you get to share each day with those that you care about and who love you in return.

Beautiful Bostyn
While we were in Seattle, Mo got some really super cute pics of Bostyn. Try not to die because she is so damn cute!

HELLO Washington!
Well, we made it. We flew into Seattle on Friday and we're here until Tuesday morning. It's been nice to get away and have our first vacation, just the two of us, in over 4 years. Maybe 5? Thank you to Margie, Wade, Amber, Matich, Ron and Mo for taking the kids for us so that we can do this! But don't be fooled: just because we don't have the kids or work or chores DOES NOT mean we haven't been just as busy, if not busier! Here's how it's been so far:
FRIDAY
We got to SLC airport Friday morning about 2 hours before our plane was scheduled to leave. Good thing. Because while Chris's backpack was running through airport security, TSA spotted a "concealed weapon": brass knuckles tucked away in a little pocket inside another pocket. SLC police pulled Chris over to the side, where Chris explained that he had just borrowed the backpack from a coworker that morning and he thought he had emptied out all of the pockets. This was the police officers response: "Well, what if this backpack had been LOADED with cocaine?!" Ummm, if it was LOADED with drugs, I think Chris would have noticed it while he was emptying out all of the pockets, like he told the officer he did. Anyways, Chris got a ticket for a concealed weapon, which will probably be a HUGE fine, but we're really lucky that it didn't end up being worse than that. Chris will go before the judge to explain again what happened, & we'll just go from there! Right after the almost hour-long fiasco, I spotted Kyle Beckerman (Rosy's boyfriend) from Real Salt Lake (see earlier soccer posting). I HAD to take a picture of him for Miss Rosy. So I grabbed Chris's cell phone & ran over to him. Maybe it was because someone was asking him for his picture, or maybe I accidentally called him Ryan instead of Kyle, but he was acting kind of weird. He was a good sport though & one of his teammates took a picture of us. I told him that Rosy was mad at him because he never wrote her back on myspace, so I thought she would be kind of mad at me, but as soon as she got the picture we sent to her phone, she called me up & told me I should've given him her number! I thought she was mad at him! So anyways, I get to be Rosy's screensaver for a while. I mean, Kyle gets to be Rosy's screensaver for a while. We had time to kill still so we bought a book & a sprite & sat down to read until our flight started boarding. I opened my Sprite and it exploded all over my silk shirt. I had to go to the bathroom to take it off & wash & dry it. Silk dries fast!! After that we didn't want to sit around & wait so we walked up & down the airport, where we saw Chris's ex, who I don't like because she tried to get back together with Chris after we were living together. She obviously didn't get the being dumped part. But that was a long time ago, so I'm over it, right? Later on, as we were waiting to board our plane, passengers were deboarding & off walked Davey Havok, the lead singer from the band AFI! It was pretty cool to see 2 semi-famous people in less than 2 hours. Then we were late taking off because our Southwest airplane was leaking hydraulic fluid from the landing gear (thanks pilot, for telling us that right before we started flying) but we landed safely, got to Judith's work, dropped off our suitcases & just walked around downtown for a few hours until she got off work. For dinner that night we tried Ethiopian food. Not too bad, it reminded me of Southern food. No forks, you eat the food by tearing bread into pieces & scooping or picking up the food. The bread was weird, very spongy, & it expanded in our stomachs SO bad (that was for you, jude). It was a VERY interesting day, to say the least.
SATURDAY
Judith had to work, so we hitched a ride into Seattle with her. We spent a few hours walking around along the waterfront. We took an underground tour, where we learned that the city made most of its money off of underground brothels when it first started out. For lunch we ate the most amazing nachos we've ever eaten in our lives & then walked to the Space Needle. We were going to go to the top but the line was ridiculously long so we took pictures & called it good. We were worn out from walking, so we rode the monorail back most of the way & picked up Judith from work again. We found out later that almost right after we left the Space Needle, 2 people got shot, so it's a good thing we ended up leaving! From there we made our way to Alki beach & met up with Jude's friend Abraham, who is also from Salt Lake originally. Chris & Abe ended up knowing a few of the same people so we had fun just walking on the sand talking. I think that was the first time Chris ever walked barefoot on sand. His poor delicate little feet didn't handle it too well, but neither did my busted up pinkie toe (I cut it open real bad by stubbing my toe on Bostyn's swing at 3 in the morning & required stitches but it was too late by the time I actually took time to look at it). Plus all the state of Washington gang members & drug dealers seemed to like hanging out on the boardwalk at dinnertime. So we left & drove up to a look out point & just hung around until it got dark. Abe left & we decided it was time to head to Jude's house to eat & watch movies. We all fell asleep on the couch at like 2 in the morning.
SUNDAY
This was our "relaxing" day. If you call putting a corrugated steel roof on Judith's sister's shed and then spending 6 straight hours with Judith's 8-month-old nephew shopping at the factory outlet stores "relaxing" or "taking it easy" then you deserve a pat on the back. Cuz even though that's what we did, I wouldn't say we took it easy at all. Poo. But we treated ourselves to a fab seafood dinner:
Garlic Butter Shrimp
Garlic Butter Scallops
Alaskan King Crab Legs
Marlin cooked in Mango Butter
Halibut cooked in Coconut Butter
*a heart attack waiting to happen*
Roasted Rosemary Baby Red Potatoes
Garlic Cheese Biscuits
White cake with Chocolate frosting (also eaten for breakfast the next morn)
Rockstar Energy Drink
Thank you Chris and Judith for making such an amazing meal!!!
MONDAY
Judith had today off too so she drove us the long way into Seattle so we could get some good views of the state. We are pretty sure that we drove past Bill Gates house, but who knows? We went to a place called Gasworks Park, where we got a view exactly opposite of the lookout point we were out on Saturday. We were cold so we didn't stay too long, so we checked out a few famous spots throughout the state on the way back to downtown. These included the "troll" under the bridge and Public Market Place, where the first Starbucks in the world is located. We did a little bit more shopping (Bostyn is SET for the summer!) before eating lunch at FOX Sports Grill & then Judith dropped us off at our hotel. Everything we had done up to this point had really caught up with us. We were literally exhausted. We only had about an hour and a half before the Red Sox took on the Mariners, so the second we got into our hotel room, we crashed. I definitely did not sleep long enough. But there was no way we were going to be late to our first Red Sox game! Once we got to the stadium, it was really amazing to see how many Red Sox fans there were. It was seriously about half and half, if not more than the number of Mariners fans! It ended up being a game that took the Red Sox out of a small losing streak, we won 5-3. I think Chris also got a little star struck over Manny Ramirez: he kept elbowing me, "There's Manny, there's MANNY!" Definitely something we'll have to do again when we head out to Boston in September.
TUESDAY
Heading home. Nothing better in the world than seeing our beautiful, fantastic, wonderful, fun, cute kids. When Margie pulled up to us, Noah had this HUGE cheesy grin on his face and HE WOULD NOT STOP LAUGHING. He woke up poor Bostyn, who saw Chris, then me, got a big smile on her face, started laughing & getting all excited, bouncing around, then started bawling because she was still buckled into her car seat instead of in my arms. Her face had this look like she was SO relieved to see us, I seriously think she thought she would never see us again. The poor thing experienced more emotion in a few seconds than she has in her whole lifetime! After swapping the kids back & forth for hugs & kisses for a while, I climbed into the backseat with my babies for the drive home. Noah still wouldn't stop laughing & Bostyn kept grabbing my hand & hugging it to her face. We are never leaving our poor babies alone that long ever again! Although we had a TON of fun, it was good for us to get away, it was good to see Judith after almost a year, & see the Boston Red Sox for the first time, I'm pretty sure we will wait a good 10-15 years before we do that again! (I kid, I'm sure we'll be dying for a vacation in a month!)
K thanks for reading my novel. I will add pictures soon, there's over 230 of them! I have to decide which ones to put into the slide show. Check back soon!

HOT hot HOT
It was bound to happen sooner or later... we've hit 90 degree temps! Time to cool off in the fountains at The Gateway! On Sunday we took Noah to see Ironman and it was nice and cool in the theater but as soon as we stepped outside I told Chris we had to go let Noah run around in the water. Usually he's pretty hesitant to get in, but this time he just ran right in! It was a lot of fun, can't wait to take Bostyn. It's also time to buy our season passes to Raging Waters! Tip: go to citydeals.com to get a HUGE discount. We'll be there almost every Friday!!!

LOTS to talk about
Dear Lord it's been a while! So much has happened with our family (nothing bad) we've just been busy busy busy. Crazy busy. So I haven't posted anything in a bit, I have to do it all at once. So go pee, get a drink, come back and sit down and take a good, long, deep breath. Breathe out. Here goes.
Happy late Mother's Day
I know this is almost a week late, but it has to be done! All four of us want to wish a very happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful, fantastic, hard-working, beautiful Mothers in our lives! This list includes but is not limited to:
Margie
Holly (my mom)
Mo
Pat
TorTor
Oma
Nancy
Cindy
Liz
Maria
Jessica
Kristi
Holly
Emily
all moms at Dana Ortho
We hope you all had a great day and we love you very much!
Speaking of great days....
Thank you to every one that helped make my Mother's Day a special one. On Thursday before Mother's Day Chris had my favorite flower sent to my work "to make all the girls jealous". It's a beautiful orchid and it was such a sweet thing of Chris to do. Very thoughtful.
The Saturday before, my mom, the kids and I went out to breakfast at IHOP and then to the mall where my mom and Noah bought me Aveda cuticle cream (thanks for destroying my beautiful hands, stupid work gloves). It was really cute of Noah to run up to me, throw the bag at me, and yell "Happy mother's day!" as he's running away from me to play with the soccer ball in Gap Kids. Thanks to Amber and Matich taking Noah and Margie and Wade for taking Bostyn the night before, we got to go out to dinner and Todd's with friends. Then I got the ONLY thing I wanted: to sleep in! I woke up at 11:30 to breakfast in bed with my super sweet husband. I actually had time to sit and eat and Chris said he's never seen me eat so much food in one sitting! (what?! I was hungry!) Then we met up with Amber and Matich to pick up the kids, went to Target for cards, then to the mall where the kids "bought" me flip flops, the other thing I really wanted. Later that night we went to Margie's house for a bbq. Poor Margie got stuck with all the cooking, which was very good, thanks Margie! After dinner I got my first hand-made present from Noah: his hand in a glittery star. Very cute. Can't wait to get more homemade crafts as he gets older!

Family update
This should have been one of my very first posts but oh well. We have a lot of family and friends that live out of state that we don't get to keep in touch with very much and even family that we do talk to but it's hard to squeeze in all details of life into a 30 minute phone conversation, and that's if I'm luck to get that long on the phone. So not many people (*ahem*, JOE) know exactly what's going on in our lives right now, especially since a few things have happened in the last 6 months or so. So here goes.
Chris: is still at Capitol Building Materials as a Warehouse manager. He worked there when I met him in 2001 but left to work for a competitor company for more hours. He's been back there for about 3 years now and he's definitely getting more hours, sometimes over 60 hours a week. He works Monday-Saturday in year-round Utah weather ranging from freezing temps to over 100 degree heat. He's been waiting out for the grid and tile sales position since day one it seems like but instead of getting the actual job title (and company vehicle) they've been dumping all the work on Chris and even more responsibilities out in the warehouse. Even though he's understandably worn out at the end of the day he still has enough energy to come home, cook the family dinner, play with and read to the kids, spend time with his wife (me!) and run errands almost every night. He's the best!
Me! I've been working full time as an orthodontic assistant at Dana Orthodontics since Nov 07. It's REALLY REALLY great. I love working there, I have literally wanted to work there for years. It took me a long time to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life and now that I know I want to be a Dental Hygienist, this is HUGE for me to get my foot in the door and get my experience in. I like my boss and I love all the girls I work with, I laugh so hard that I cry at least once a day! But to be honest, the hours are hard: Mon-Thurs 8:15-6:15. Then I have to pick up the kids from Margie's and poor Margie, Wade and Trav just look so worn out from watching the kids on top of their day. We usually get home around 7, eat dinner, run any errands that have to be done, then bed. We are lucky to spend any time with the kids at all during the week! It's really nice having Friday's off and the rest of the weekend but of course we wish every day was Sunday (when we are all home!) There is no such thing as spending too much time with your children. Starting in the middle of June Amber will be working on Tuesdays for me. It works out for me to be home with the kids more and Amber to get hours. It's a total win-win situation. It's only for the summer, however, Amber will start her second year of Grad school in August (yea Am!) School is being put off another semester for me but I hope to also return in the Fall. All I have left to get my Associates of General Studies degree is a Diversity course, I am so close I can taste it! I also have only one prerequisite left to apply for the Dental Hygiene program. I will apply at many schools but usually there are waiting lists to get in. Once I get accepted, it's a 2 year program and then I'm DONE. Oh yeah, Yes, I have braces.
The Kids: Noah turned 3 January 13 and Bostyn will be a year old July 25. We could not ask for cuter kids. They love each other so much and they'll just play and laugh and they totally love being around each other. Let's hope this continues throughout the rest of the lives, I really hope they will be close to each other. They amaze us every day! It's so wonderful to watch them grow and we can't help but image how great they will be in so many aspects of life when they are older. I hope we will steer them in the right direction.

Noah's day at the dentist
Noah had his first ever teeth cleaning last Friday. He's been going to the dentist since he was a year old, but I was honestly surprised at how good he did. The assistant took him to get his x-rays done while I was still in the lobby filling out paperwork so I didn't get to see that, but he did what he was told and sat still. Then she took him and put him in the chair, leaned him back, put head phones on him and started Over The Hedge for him. I walked into the room right as she was walking out and poor Noah was stiff as a board, clutching onto that chair for dear life. He was staring straight up at the tv the whole time.
"This chair scares me, mom! Sit me up."
"Let's wait for the Doctor to come in."
"Okay."
Then he let the assistant clean and floss his teeth and he did everything they asked him to do. He's so big.
When he was done he got a Power Rangers toothbrush, a sandwich eraser and a sticky octopus. Definitely well-deserved for no cavities.
We have NO stinkin luck with the Pontiac!
About a month and a half ago, Chris was backing out of our carport. A pick up truck was parked to Chris's right and it was hard for him to see past it until he got out far enough. Another car came around the corner just a few cars down, drove down the wrong side of the street and "swerved" but knicked the corner of the Pontiac's back bumper. We didn't get great pics or else I'd post them, but the tail light was completely broken, there were tire marks on the TOP of the bumper, and the bumper was held up off of the ground with a whole lotta duct tape but there was still like a 2" gap where it hung down. The cops were called, but it's private property so neither driver was at fault and our insurance had to pay the whole bill: around $2000. Is our car even worth that much?!
About 2 weeks ago, Chris was at work on a Saturday. Not many people work on Saturdays so parking is available out front and to the side, so Chris parked there. At some point, one of Chris's coworkers came in and told him his front head light was broken. Two and two were put together and it was figured out that a customer had backed his truck out and ran into the Grand Prix and drove off. He wasn't a regular customer and he paid cash so no one has a clue who this guy is or how to find him. Now we have to pay to replace the exact same light that we had replaced less than a year ago!
I guess this would be a good time to bring up the time Chris got rear-ended on his Vino (scooter). We used to live in apartments really close to Chris's work and Chris would come home often to eat lunch. One day when he was driving back to work Chris stopped at a crosswalk to let a kid pass. Out of nowhere Chris got slammed into from behind (speed limit is 25 on this road) by a big Ford truck (something like that) and basically popped a wheelie and was literally pushed forward by the truck for 10 feet. Luckily Chris was okay but his scooter suffered quite a bit of damage. The guy that hit him flat out told Chris that he hadn't been paying attention, he was reading a map and didn't have his eyes on the road and didn't see Chris until after he had hit him. Chris told the guy they would exchange info after he called his work to tell them he was going to be late. About halfway through his phone call, Chris saw the guy get in his truck and drive off but there was a small wad of cash on the seat of his scooter. It was over $100, probably all the cash the guy had in his wallet, but the damage was WAY more than that. Chris got on his scooter and headed off to work but on his way there, he got pulled over by a cop! Luckily, the cop had noticed that he had just gotten in a wreck and was checking to see if he was okay. Chris told him what happened with the guy driving off and the cop said he'd try to track him down but nothing was heard of it again. Thank GOD no major accidents (although all these little ones are beginning to get quite annoying) and no major injuries. Let's hope we can all stay away from them! Wish us luck.

Our soccer-filled weekend!
Even though Noah is only 3 years old, he's interested in a lot of sports. Chris's friend Eric plays on an indoor soccer team and we've been wanting to take Noah to one of Eric's games for a few weeks now (games at 10pm, jeez!) This last Friday was the first chance we had to go, it was perfect timing and just up the street from our house. Noah had a lot of fun watching soccer, but I actually think Bostyn liked it more! She kept her eye on the ball for so long, back and forth, back and forth. It was cute. If timing keeps working out, we'll go to quite a few of these games- they're fun and free!
On Saturday our man David Beckham (and his team) came to town to play against Real Salt Lake. We HAD to go. Chris and Eric went to a game the last time Beckham was in town, I didn't get to go. So when Rosy said she was going, we hopped on that bandwagon and snatched up tickets quick. And even though we were about an hour late and we missed both goals by Beckham, we still had lots of fun and we also plan on going to more Real Salt Lake games. Final score: 2-2 and 2 broken hearts when we didn't get to meet our celeb boyfriend
