Family update

This should have been one of my very first posts but oh well. We have a lot of family and friends that live out of state that we don't get to keep in touch with very much and even family that we do talk to but it's hard to squeeze in all details of life into a 30 minute phone conversation, and that's if I'm luck to get that long on the phone. So not many people (*ahem*, JOE) know exactly what's going on in our lives right now, especially since a few things have happened in the last 6 months or so. So here goes.

Chris: is still at Capitol Building Materials as a Warehouse manager. He worked there when I met him in 2001 but left to work for a competitor company for more hours. He's been back there for about 3 years now and he's definitely getting more hours, sometimes over 60 hours a week. He works Monday-Saturday in year-round Utah weather ranging from freezing temps to over 100 degree heat. He's been waiting out for the grid and tile sales position since day one it seems like but instead of getting the actual job title (and company vehicle) they've been dumping all the work on Chris and even more responsibilities out in the warehouse. Even though he's understandably worn out at the end of the day he still has enough energy to come home, cook the family dinner, play with and read to the kids, spend time with his wife (me!) and run errands almost every night. He's the best!

Me! I've been working full time as an orthodontic assistant at Dana Orthodontics since Nov 07. It's REALLY REALLY great. I love working there, I have literally wanted to work there for years. It took me a long time to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life and now that I know I want to be a Dental Hygienist, this is HUGE for me to get my foot in the door and get my experience in. I like my boss and I love all the girls I work with, I laugh so hard that I cry at least once a day! But to be honest, the hours are hard: Mon-Thurs 8:15-6:15. Then I have to pick up the kids from Margie's and poor Margie, Wade and Trav just look so worn out from watching the kids on top of their day. We usually get home around 7, eat dinner, run any errands that have to be done, then bed. We are lucky to spend any time with the kids at all during the week! It's really nice having Friday's off and the rest of the weekend but of course we wish every day was Sunday (when we are all home!) There is no such thing as spending too much time with your children. Starting in the middle of June Amber will be working on Tuesdays for me. It works out for me to be home with the kids more and Amber to get hours. It's a total win-win situation. It's only for the summer, however, Amber will start her second year of Grad school in August (yea Am!) School is being put off another semester for me but I hope to also return in the Fall. All I have left to get my Associates of General Studies degree is a Diversity course, I am so close I can taste it! I also have only one prerequisite left to apply for the Dental Hygiene program. I will apply at many schools but usually there are waiting lists to get in. Once I get accepted, it's a 2 year program and then I'm DONE. Oh yeah, Yes, I have braces.

The Kids: Noah turned 3 January 13 and Bostyn will be a year old July 25. We could not ask for cuter kids. They love each other so much and they'll just play and laugh and they totally love being around each other. Let's hope this continues throughout the rest of the lives, I really hope they will be close to each other. They amaze us every day! It's so wonderful to watch them grow and we can't help but image how great they will be in so many aspects of life when they are older. I hope we will steer them in the right direction.
